On This Day in History July 6

On this day in history (not in order of importance):

July 6, 1923--
  • The Dr. Pepper Company was officially incorporated in Dallas, Texas.
July 6, 1977--
  • The Elvis Presley single "Way Down" was released.
July 6, 1942--
  • The day after her sister Margot received orders to report for relocation to a labor camp, Anne Frank and her family went into hiding from the Nazis in Amsterdam. In 1944, the family is discovered, arrested, and sent to concentration camps where Anne, Margot, and their mother Edith die in 1945. Only Anne's father, Otto, survives. He later publishes Anne's diary account of their hiding.
annefrank.org has a pretty cool but slow-to-load 3D tour of the Secret Annex.
