Hi, I came across your website, I liked the pictures of the riverside on the ettowah mounds section, Probably if i read this site, i might know you better, but ill just ask, do you live near the ettowah mounds and is this a part of georgia or where? I am studying about the creek indians and it led me to find awareness of ettowah mounds.

ReplyDeleteEtowah Indian Mounds is on the Etowah River just outside of Cartersville, Georgia. There's easy access off I-75 north of Atlanta. It's a beautiful area. and there are many other attractions nearby, including both outdoors (such as Lake Allatoona and Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park) and indoors (such as large and small museums and galleries). Lots of history and lots of scenery. There is a lot of Creek Indian history in Georgia, although most of what you find in north Georgia is Cherokee, since the Cherokees moved in as the Creeks moved farther south. You can probably find a great deal of Creek historical sites in middle Georgia. If you're interested in Cherokee sites, the Cherokee capital of New Echota is just a few exits up I-75, and there are many other Cherokee sites nearby.
